Joy and Whoopi Storm Off Set
Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg stormed off the set of ABC's The View Thursday morning during an interview with FNC's Bill O'Reilly. The discussion was about President Obama's disconnect with the American people, which O'Reilly said was on display when he refused to comment about the so-called Ground Zero mosque controversy. O'Reilly said the mosque was inappropriate because it was Muslims who committed the terrorist attacks on 9/11. (h/t Hotair)
What was Whoopi Goldberg's response to O'Reilly's claim that it was Muslims who killed Americans on 9/11? Goldberg said "that's just bullsh*t." She can be heard referencing Timothy McVeigh just moments before leaving the set with Joy Behar.
Goldberg, like so many other apologists for Jihadists, believes that Muslim terrorists shouldn't be associated with the religion they claim is their motivation [source | source]. However, they're quick to associate Christianity with McVeigh's actions, in spite of McVeigh never making the association himself.
On her CNN Headline News show later that same day, Behar said O'Reilly's statement that Muslims committed 9/11 is "hate speech." Interestingly, after calling O'Reilly's comments "hate speech," Behar and special guest Jesse Ventura bantered about Bill O'Reilly being a "spineless puke" and Glenn Beck being one of the Three Stooges. Ventura also reminded Behar's viewers that he subscribes to the 9/11 conspiracy theory that the terrorist attacks were committed by the CIA and the Bush Administration [watch]. Apparently, Behar is much more tolerant of the 9/11 conspiracy theory than she is of O'Reilly's factual statement that Muslims committed 9/11.
Another issue brought up during the Behar-Ventura puke-stooge discussion was that Ventura apparently believes that Bill O'Reilly wants the government to prohibit the construction of the mosque in Manhattan. However, as O'Reilly says himself during his interview on The View, and as most opponents of the mosque say, the Muslim organization that is building the mosque clearly have the right to do so, but they should move it to another location.
Thus, Ventura's whole argument about the First Amendment is moot because the issue is not about Constitutional rights. It's about responsibilities and sensibilities, just as it was when Walmart wanted to build a store in Gettysburg [source], or when Pennsylvania wanted to build a casino near the Gettysburg battlefield [source], or when the Pope asked nuns to move their convent away from Auschwitz [source].
Incredibly, on the issue of tolerance and hate speech, Behar should check herself. As Laura Ingraham noted on Bill O'Relly's show later that night, Joy Behar has said the following things about Christians and Christianity [watch]:
- Home-school parents are "demented"
- Catholic saints are insane
- Ridiculed same-sex marriage opponents
- Mocked Christian womens' sexual habits
- Prayer is anti-intellectual and irrational
Goldberg and Behar clearly are incapable of tolerating a viewpoint different than their own. Both demonstrated their intolerance of opinions they don't share - thus, it's safe to assume that they think different opinions are illegitimate and should be prohibited. Even more, their behavior reveals a pettiness that is often found among radical Leftists on college campuses, and which is a hallmark of Leftist political discourse.
Regarding the Timothy McVeigh issue, the political Left often cites the Oklahoma City bombing as evidence that Christians are just as prone to terrorism and as dangerous as Muslims. Rosie O'Donnell even suggested they are on The View some years ago [watch]. But I challenge anyone to provide a list of Christian terrorist attacks that even remotely comes close to this list of Muslim terrorist attacks [more].
UPDATE: Dennis Miller interviewed Jesse Ventura about his 9/11 conspiracy theory [listen].
UPDATE: Joy Behar said MN Congressman Michele Bachmann is "against children" because she opposed a federal program that funds health insurance for poor children [watch]. Of note, Michele Bachman and her husband have invited into their home over 23 foster care children.
This is the perfect example of how big-government Leftists view charity. To the godless, Leftist mind the federal government is the only moral benchmark. The fact that Bachmann and her husband devoted themselves to caring for and raising 23 foster children as their own is irrelevant - because they oppose federal spending they are against children.
Instead, big government Leftists feel morally superior because they support federal programs that disperse federal taxpayer money to a constituency that is then obligated and compelled to cast their votes for those politicians who support those programs. Furthermore, anyone who opposes those programs is against the people it supposedly helps. And this passes for charity? In reality, it's a corruption of the concept of charity, as I've written about extensively [read | read | read].
In short, Joy Behar, by pulling a lever in a voting booth, is ipso facto morally superior to a woman who raised 23 foster care children.
UPDATE: MSNBC panel discusses [watch]. Of course, Leftist Norah O'Donnell agreed with Joy and Whoopi, reinforcing the argument that the Leftists tend to act on feelings rather than logic or knowledge or wisdom. But, in her defense, Ms. O'Donnell may have some mental issues, what with her forgetting things and all [watch]. Feelings rather than logic, knowledge, or wisdom.
More evidence? CBS's Harry Smith characterized O'Reilly's comments as "bloviating," but failed to address or counter what he actually said [read]. And way, way over on the far, radical Left, Dylan Ratigan tried to wrap his tiny mind around the idea that Muslims attacked us on 9/11 [watch].
UPDATE: Whoopi and Joy discussed the affair during a taping of their next episode [watch]. Of course, they stubbornly defended their behavior. The next time these two women speak about intolerance, perhaps we can all remember their intolerance of Bill O'Reilly's factual statement.
UPDATE: A white woman moved into a mostly black neighborhood in South Carolina and began flying the Confederate Flag in her yard. A black neighbor said: "But just because it’s legally right, doesn’t make it morally right." Isn't this similar to the Cordoba House (Ground Zero mosque) controversy that instigated the above episode on The View?
UPDATE: Joy Behar apparently has an issue with a woman running for the Senate in Nevada against Democrat Harry Reid. The Joy "love fest" started when one of Sharron Angle's campaign ads was aired on The View. The ad highlighted Harry Reid's voting record on illegal immigration [watch], and portrayed illegal immigrants negatively. Behar said the ad was "like a Hitler Youth commercial," and then said Angle, the "stupid," "evil," "moron" "bitch," is "going to hell."
In response to Behar's vitriolic, on-air hate-fest, the Angle campaign sent Joy some flowers, with a "thank you" note [watch].
By the way, Harry Reid is experiencing a little rough patch in his campaign. First, news broke this week that one of Reid's staffers was involved in a marriage-for-green-card debacle that included a Lebanese foreign national and lies to the Department of Homeland Security (of note, Reid is a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, which means he and some of this staff are cleared for the nation's highly classified secrets); also, Reid recently intimated that he's the savior of the world [read].
Perhaps Behar is amped up about Reid's gaffs, but she should take some advice from former Velvet Underground drummer Moe Tucker, who said: "I would never judge someone based on their political views. Their honesty, integrity, kindness to others, generosity? Yes. Politics? No!"
UPDATE: Joy Behar is still getting the attention she needs; the attention that feeds her massive ego. She riding the wave all the way to the beach [watch].
UPDATE: Whoopi explains her actions to Oprah [watch]. She reinforces the fact that Leftists are emotive creatures, led more by their feelings rather than by logic or rational thought. She even admits she was unable to control herself. Years ago, someone who was unable to control their emotions was labeled (accurately) "emotionally unstable" and therefore unfit for positions of public influence. Today, though, they're celebrated figures whose actions are applauded.
UPDATE: Whoopi appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show [watch], and provide more evidence that she's emotionally unstable. She spoke about hearing herself say things, as if she was a mere observer to her own actions.
